For those of you who wanted to see the gigantic entertainment center we moved yesterday, here it is. I apologise for how blurry this photo is. You can see the new wall color (yay!) behind it. I still don't have everything put back together yet. I think one of the things I like about painting is it forces you to evaluate and super clean everything. All that stuff you never move can finally be dusted, vacuumed, whatever. I got rid of about half the stuff that was lurking behind those bottom cabinet doors (disney VHS movies anyone?) and still plan on sorting more out. Moving these wasnt as bad as I thought it would be! As I watched my strong, virile hubby move these I felt not a twinge anywhere, and moving them back was just as easy! (Men, ya gotta love em!) I would actually love to paint these white but I don't think Earl would go for it. He loves them the way they are so I will deal with them as best I can. This is a close up of the shleves, once again, sorry about the darkness and blurriness. It is a cold grey day here and the light is bad and apparently I can't seem to hold the camera still! Right now I have what we call the "Vicky shrine" which consists of a display of her Senior pictures that we just got back. Love them! One of the lovely ladies in our church did them and they are spectacular! I think she does an extra special good job because of her love for the church kids. I can now begin working on what I will do as far as picture placement and other accessories in this room. I was thinking I would call a friend in to help me because after you look at your own stuff for a while you can end up in a decorating rut. I need some fresh eyes so we will give it a try! I'll share what we come up with as soon as we are done. Thanks for all the encouragement and for stopping by. You all brighten my day:>)

  1. Hey Kathy! That is a nice piece of furniture :) It does feel good to make some clean changes...you have reminded me to haul the VHS out of the h.o.u.s.e !!! VCRs came out when I was in college and you had to leave a huge deposit with the furniture store that rented you the player. SO weird.

  3. What a beautiful, lighted entertainment center!!!! Is the wall paint color a greenist tint? I couldn't tell for sure.

We need to repaint a long wall in our living room that extends into the dining area. We have the paint purchased already!!!

  4. Actually it is Laura Ashley color called cabana and it is a golden yellow. It seems to change with the light, a little more greenish looking when it is dim but a beautiful clear golden yellow in the sunlight. Hope you share your project when it is done:>)

  5. Kathy, your color is perfect! And I love the big entertainment center.

You are so right. When ever you start a redecorating project at home, it kind of snowballs...Paint a living room, clean out stuff, have a garage sale, bring leftovers to thrift store or church yard sale...or, maybe keep it because you never know if you just might need it :-)...Maybe that is only me -lol.

  13. Great paint color - so warm and cozy! Your cabinets are gorgeous and do look very heavy. I leave the heavy lifting to my hubby and sons. Thank God they have good backs! Love the "shrine" of your daughter- a much deserved spot for sure. xo, Becky

  14. Kathy, I have to come down on Earl's side on this one. You just do not paint Oak! I am sure that it will blend with any color you choose in the future, but it looks like the one you have choosen is a great one. Your display at the store is very nice and this will be a nice sideline for you. Keep up the great blog. LAS

  15. It really is huge, isn't it?! Holy cows! What a man you have!! When we were moving into our house, we could NOT get our mattress around the curve in the stairs. One lady (who, coincidentally is moving this week) said a quick prayer. You know, one of those, "Oh Lord, please..) All of sudden it just slipped through like butter. Now whenever we have a big item that won't fit through our tiny door frames, etc. we joke that we need an angel push. =) Anyhow, I like your enterntainment center! Blessings... Polly

  18. That is a very nice piece and I love your wall color:)
Maybe that is why we change things around, because it does force us to re-evaluate what is necessary and what is not.

BTW I am so sorry that I have not been over sooner to answer your question, please forgive me, I won't let it happen again...I got the Meyer's candle and cleaning supplies at the Whole Foods Market, it is the only place I have ever seen them.

  19. Oh, my, that is huge! I can see the issue with moving it! But how cool to have it finally in place, all lit up so pretty, and with such a lovely wall color behind it!

  20. I looked in one of my entertainment center cabinets tonight and I promptly closed the door again. I don't even want to know what is lurking in there.
