Sunday
Grandpa Ott is invading my garden. Not my grandpa, but the name of this pretty purple morning glory that reseeds itself profusely every year. Earl and I have torn out hundreds of these as they came up but we finally gave up and are enjoying the blooms each morning as they tangle through the fence, the tomato supports and even the lilac bush nearby. Sometimes you just have to give in to beauty:>) Not much happening today. Delicious Sunday dinner at a cousins house with time to play with our adorable godson. He is just taking his first toddling steps. The rest of the day was spent replacing the coffeemaker that last night gave up the ghost when the entire pot of water that was poured into the reservoir came pouring right out the bottom of the coffeemaker. Exciting. After that I came home and read for a while and then caught up with my blog buds. Nothing fascinating to report, no projects finished, nothing purchased or found by the side of the road. Tomorrow another week begins, but for now, I need a cup of coffee (decaf) and a relaxing hour of zombie like trance in front of the t.v. That's all. Mindless relaxation is the order of the day. Put your feet up with me, ok? We don't always have to have something earth shattering to share. How do you relax?
Relax? Well, I am hoping to relax after Oct 12...when we move.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, even though we have tons of crazyiness (not a wordI know) going on now, I make sure to find some time to relax each day. Somethings I make a cup of coffee in the afternoon and read a magazine. Sometimes, I watch a silly TV show. Sometimes I just get lost in a good book for a half hour or so.
Have a wonderful week....
xoxo

Too true Kathy, we don't always have to have something mind shattering to share!! It's just nice to share in a cozy spot with our feet up!!
ReplyDeleteI love to read to relax or cut things out (paper for collage). Sometimes I'll watch mindless televison but most often I'm with a book.
And I love what you said about the morning glory..."sometimes you just have to give in to beauty." That's such a positive affirmation!! I love it!!
Mindless relaxation...that was my afternoon too. The vibrant color of your morning glory is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a good week!
I've been putting my feet up today, too. My dear little mother came for lunch after church and we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with our feet up (mine were literally up in the recliner), visiting and catching up. And watching my little dog take his Sunday nap! He's so funny when he sleeps and it makes for good conversation at times.
ReplyDeleteI love your morning glory - I want to plant on somewhere that I can just let it go but I don't know where that will be yet.

I say keep those beautiful morning glories - so pretty!! Enjoy your relaxation!

Hahaha when I first started to read all I could think was "Am I on the right page? Who on earth is 'Grandpa Ott???'" lol i hope you told rick and marie how very upset i was that i didn't get to go today. :( sorry that i missed out on hangin out with you guys too! i love you!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy...I just assumed Grandpa Ott was Earl's father...it sounds like it could be Earls father....There is nothing like a nice Sunday of doing nothing....I just went while the Boss was watching football and spent way too much money on crap at the Walmart....they had underwear on sale...polka dot and strips...in orange!!
ReplyDeleteCame home and made a wonderful roasted chicken with red roasted potatoes with a nice sour cream dipping sauce...low calorie sour cream ofcourse....and I just got finished packing my box for the trip on Saturday....I have to ship my clothes ahead of me via FedEx because the husband pitches a fit that I bring too many clothes..He expects me to wear the same outfit for 10 days.....Oh sure.
Hi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely thing that these morning glories like to rest near the tomatoes. Your Sunday sounded perfect. Relaxing,I doodle on Photoshop, I don't know why but it's a new fascination for me, and I get totally relaxed.
Have a lovely Monday.
Karen
Wow...morning glories that reseed themselves....I need to find some of those! Have a relaxing week!~Patti
ReplyDeleteThe coffee pot episode sounds like it was exciting LOL! I had something similar happen to me a few weeks back. Except I hadn't put the coffee pot in correctly and when I made coffee it wasn't lined up properly and went pouring all over my counter and cabinets! Fortunately my cabinets are already beige looking (coffee stain cabinets - maybe I'll start a new thing LOL).
ReplyDeleteThat morning glory is pretty! I love to see them early in the morning.
Well...yesterday I read a really good .95 cent book I got from the thriftstore. It was so good I didn't want to put it down (don't you love when you get involved in a really good book)!

I have Grandpa Ott growing in my rhododendron bushes! I just pulled lots out the other day. It really is quite pretty...I wish it would grow on the fence!
ReplyDeleteannie
p.s.I happen to think that getting a new coffeemaker is very exciting!
Hi Kathy
ReplyDeleteWe have the same morning glory in our garden too and every year I try to pull it out but finally give up.
I relax by reading. Hope you enjoyed relaxing on the weekend.

Morning glories do tend to be a beautiful nuisance.

ReplyDeleteGood morning Kathy!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Morning Glory. How beautiful! I like to pour myself a cup of Lady grey tea and curl up with a book to relax :) We all need to make that time or we can easily get burnt out.
I am having a giveaway on my blog if you or your readers would like to enter. The drawing will be October 2.
Have a blessed day!

Ok, I just love M.G.s.. We had some come out of now where as well. I just let mine grow... But in the tomato plants. Shame, Shame. Can't give up the tomato plants.
ReplyDeleteLovely shade of purple however...
Sounds like a wonderful relaxing day. My favorite kind. Mimi
ReplyDeleteHi Sweetie! I feel a little better this morning and wanted to come around and visit :) You know what? I think these Grandpa Ott's are the things that keep taking over my fence beds!!! The relentlessly wind around the fence tight as can be and just keep coming back! I have only seen one purple flower though but the leaves look the same! Thank you for posting this Kathy, I have been wondering what those were! Now I dont mind them as much, lol!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Amy
I don't really think I ever relax, Unless its when I go to the movies with my grandkids..I used to read and that was relaxing . I still read but don't think it is relaxing for me these days.Maybe knitting is my relaxing time now. Yeah that is it .
ReplyDeleteI feel lost if I don't have something on the needles so guess that is it.

Coffee pots can die?
ReplyDeleteOH NO!!!
I see you still have tomatoes...they are all gone here. How do I relax...I like to lie on my kids beds and listen to them tell about their school day or watch something on Youtube :)
