I may be a red girl for other things, but when it comes to roses pink is my favorite. Followed closely by white. Red roses are near the bottom, though I've never turned down flowers of any color or type. Never.
So these are the best of both. Just what I needed on a subzero winter day. These aren't just roses, they are a vase full of hope.
As for the Christmas decorations? Packed away, not in the attic yet, but in their boxes in the basement waiting for final organization before I put them away for good. I came home from work yesterday and sweet husband had taken them all down for me, the toughest part of the job. As they say in blogland, hate me:>) He really is the best! Having the house all emptied of the clutter, I feel more inspired for the next phase of organizing and decorating. Oh, and January cleaning, it's definitely time. More good news? Earl starts a new job tomorrow, It is only temporary but it may be a foot in the door to something better, in any case he feels encouraged and that is a good thing. A big thank you to all of you for your dear encouraging comments. I am slowly making my way around to visit each of you. It may take some time but I will get there. Each comment means so much:>) Thank you!
Kathy:
ReplyDeleteYour roses are lovely. And I love the :>) as I have never seen that one before. I am now afraid you might beat me at getting the Christmas stuff to the final spot. I am really close as it is in the storage room but not quite packed away. Praying for Earl and his job.

Hi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteI just found out about the discount flowers at Krogers too! They mark them down yet the flowers are still beautiful. I love cut flowers for my dining table. SOOO affordable this way!
Blessings,
Kymber
Your flowers are so pretty. I'm jealous of girls who find those for such a good buy. Just doesn't seem to happen at my stores.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Earl on the job. I do hope it works out.
I totally agree with you about cleaning. I've been a busy bee!
Beautiful, beautiful roses!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet husband you have - mine is just that great as well!
Great news about the job -
Wow--those roses are very hopefully pretty and to think they were only 5.00. I would of snatched them up to and taken them home. What a sweet hubby you have. His temp job must have encouraged him so that he wanted to do a little for you and for the house. How wonderful. You never know what can come from a temp job. Wishing you more wonderful uplifting moments like those.

What beautiful, beautiful roses. And what lovely photos you took, of them. Especially the 2nd photo. So soft around the edges. I love that effect, but never get it.
ReplyDeleteYes, your husband is a sweetheart. I have one of those too. 'Uncle A.' is very, very thoughtful.
And I'm new here and didn't know that your husband was job hunting. But I'm so very, very happy that he 'has his foot in the door,' as you say. We are all living through hard times. But hope we will come through them, even stronger.

So happy things are looking up, even just a little! Will keep my fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteAlso....flowers is the ONE thing I've never bought myself......looking at how beautiful these are....and how little they cost.....makes me feel a little silly for not indulging myself once in a while. I guarantee there will be flowers in a vase around here soon! Thanks for the nudge!
Beautiful flowers! Flowers are so special this time of year.
ReplyDeleteGreat news about Earl and the new job!
I hope you all stay warm this weekend!
Pink roses are my favorite, too. I love the combination of pink roses and white daisies... does that prove I am a girl of the 70s?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your bouquet with us!
Your roses are beautiful, I treated myself to some roses too (; There is nothing like having fresh flowers around to cheer up your day!
ReplyDeleteHugs~Kelly
Oh, that is such good news about Earl. These roses are gorgeous. I have heard you mention Kroger's before, we don't have that store here. What a treat to have roses in a vase. When I got the good news from the doctor on Tuesday, I stopped by the flower shop in the hospital and bought myself some roses.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day, Kathy.

ReplyDeletehugs, bj
I almost called last night to see if Earl had started the job yet or not. I'm so glad you blog! ;-)
ReplyDeleteJulianne is continuing to have a great time with the book and her floss. The results are so pretty! We have to go south on Saturday-maybe we can stop over when we're done?
Kathy, I am so glad you are feeling more hopeful. Such good news about Earl. I will keep the positive thoughts and prayers going.
ReplyDeleteWhat good news about earl's job...I will say a prayer that it leads to a permanent something wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThe roses look so pretty...especially in sich a sweet container!
Tha perked up my spitits seeing it!

Swooning over the roses! :-) And having your man take down the Christmas decorations for you. Double swoon!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Melissa
Oh, I so agree -- white and pink roses are so much more beautiful than red ones. And I really love stems with multiple flowers, rather than the long-stemmed ones, which always seem so stiff and, well, fake.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet of your hubby to take all the decorations down. I know how you were dreading that! Best of luck to him in his new job! I hope it will lead to bigger things... :)
xoxo,
Mary
Gorgeous roses, such a relief after the red of Christmas decorations.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting. I have added a bit more about how to eat an oyster!
Sweet hubby & roses!!!! xox
ReplyDeleteBeautiful....Hugs...m..
ReplyDeleteOh ...I'm so glad to hear that DH has found a job. I've been thinking about you and wondering how all is going.
ReplyDeleteI love the 'discounted' roses! They don't look so discounted, they look very regal! I'm so happy that things are looking up for you and DH.
Hi Kathy!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pictures you took of your roses, they are so crystal clear I felt like I could touch them!! They certainly brighten up a dreary January day!
Your husband is a real keeper, putting away your holiday decorations. Mine are piled up in the kitchen as I wait in vain for someone to bring them downstairs!!
Take care!
xoxo
Janie
Pretty! I love the pale shade.
ReplyDeleteI checked our Kroger twice lately ( I thought Tuesday was the 1/2 day) but no dice.
Happy for Earl!
Kathy,
ReplyDeleteThe roses are beautiful.
Love your hearts on flicker.
Will anyone share their little stuffed bird patterns or where they got them? I do nests and birdhouses and pin cushions, and can't find birds. Tried to make a pattern, but to no avail. (funniest looking bird you've ever seen.) =0)
I don't really want to just put those mushroom birds on if i can make something.
elegant!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful roses with lovely pale colors. They make the home more warming and inviting.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post,
Merlyn
