I don't know if you have all metKaren Harvey Cox, if you haven't you should. She is a dear blog friend and we have had some great times of sharing and emailing. She is one of those people who is just so easy to talk to. Karen had a give away recently on her blog and the prize was one of her lovely original watercolors in the flower of your choice. So generous to get a piece of beautiful art made just for you. What all of us who entered didn't know was that Karen was going to make us ALL winners! yes, for every person who entered, Karen is painting the flower of their choice just for them! Mine came in the mail yesterday. Beautifully packaged with a handmade tag and a lovely card was, this....my watercolor of one of my favorite cottage flowers, the hollyhock:>)
A profusion of pink hollyhocks just outside a cottage window. I love it Karen! I need to find a frame and then the perfect place to enjoy it. I have been blessed with several of Karens lovely works and I have a couple hanging in my living room right now. She is a fabulous artist and, more importantly, a fabulous friend:>)
Hi Kathy You did a great job on your washroom. I wish you'd shown it to us before as well but I know how it is to get through a project and then remember...I do that when I'm halfway through a meal I wanted to share. It looks so nice and I love the toile curtains in there. I'm glad Earl liked it too! have a lovely day Judi
How wonderful to receive such a beautiful gift! The painting is so perfect. What an amazing person to have opened her heart to so many guest by giving them each a small piece of her heart!
Kathy, Thank you so much for such a beautiful post. You have made me feel so wonderful. You know, when I first set out to do this project, I had no idea how much joy I would receive. Each painting has been so much fun to try to match the flower with a special composition. You always make me feel so special, and this post has truly made my day.
What a special surprise! Karen's work is gorgeous and you are so blessed to have some of her work. I love hollyhocks, too, and I can only imagine how thrilled you are to have some that won't wilt or fade - in bloom all year round! ~Adrienne~
Gorgeous! I like hollyhocks too! Yes, I sold one of the chairs. I really only wanted one to begin with but I had to buy both of them. But at least I made some money!
Karen's work is absolutely fabulous! What a lucky girl you are to have a bit of her talent sitting right there in your home! The holly hocks look beautiful!
WOW! What a lovely thing to receive from an artist friend! It is truly a think to behold. Hope you find just the perfect frame to grace its beauty. Hugs,Jan
How thoughtful and generous of Karen to do one of these for each person who entered her giveaway. Her work is beautiful -- I can only imagine how all the other flowers looked.
I was reading Karen's comment on this post and what came to me when she talked about how much joy she has received speaks so strongly to me...the giving to others gives joy to the recipient but the joy felt by the giver is just as wonderful. You have a true friend in Karen who seems to be a genuine caring person.
