Today was sunny and 60 degrees. A fine Autumn day after a week of relentless rain and cold. I am taking a little time off from other responsibilities this week to recharge and I thought a walk in our woods was a fine idea. I was right. I followed the path into the trees. The cool quiet shade where every sound stood out. I heard something run away, maybe a squirrel, maybe a deer. I saw fire in the colors of a shrub and each leaf seemed like a jewel. Coming up to the old bridge over the creek, I heard frogs splash into the water as I approached. I heard a single leaf fall.
I listened to the trickle of crystal water as it ran past a fallen tree covered in velvet moss. Do you see the lichen on the tree? Such a beautiful color and texture. The leaves on the ground , like colored confetti, nature throwing one last party before winter.
I'm glad I could attend :>)
Oh, gosh!! Kathy , this is beautiful and poetic...."I am glad I could attend." I love it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures. The path looks endless. I'm so glad you could enjoy your day like this. I am struggling with my new sewing machine. Got as far a winding the bobbin according to the manual. How LONG do you wind the bobbin?? Why can't they realize they may be talking to first timers?!
Sorry to rain on your great day, but I know you sew and thought I might vent a bit. Love this post so much, Kathy. Hope your week continues this way.
xoxo

I love to walk in the woods this time of year. The light is soft and the fallen leaves smell so good. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful walk Kathy -- a lovely way to unwind, relax and rejuvenate yourself. Not only did you "see" so much beauty -- you heard it as well.
ReplyDeleteI love listening to the falling leaves ... & snow flakes. Beautiful walk with you today.

The colors of the leaves are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe pillows in the last post are just darling, too.

Hi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteYour mosaics are gorgeous. A walk in the woods, being alone with nature is always such a good thing to do. It's raining her today, and I am watching all the beautiful fall leaves blowing around. This time of year you just want to memorize everything before the snow. Looks like you attended a great party.
Karen
So much happiness for so little money!
ReplyDeleteThank you God :)
Beautiful Kathy! I love this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI think the relentless rain has come our way...

Kathy, I almost felt like I was walking along with you~beautiful descriptions and photos. Your outside was much more enticing mine with our still high humidity that had all my windows fogged this morning. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOuu Kathy those are wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteI love walking thru the woods especially this time of year! God is such an awesome artist.
We are so blessed!

Oh Kathy, how wonderful!!! Thank you for taking us on this walk with you, especially as it has been raining like crazy here for days on end!
ReplyDeleteAt least it seems like days on end. :)
Simply lovely!! I'm 'kathleen' too, so its nice to meet someone whose name I won't have difficulty remembering!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and beautifully written! I'm so sick of the rain! I'm longing for some crisp Autumn days that are dry!
ReplyDeleteManuela
Beautiful pictures. Lovely post. You live in a gorgeous place, lucky you. Mimi
ReplyDeleteOh Kathy, what a wonderful way to relax. We don't really have "woods" like that. Our landscape around here goes from fields, to foot hills with clumps of oak trees in seas of grass to mountainsides with pine trees. I'm wondering if there's a cute little bear living near you with his friends...
ReplyDeleteIf you get too relaxed come by to check out my giveaway. It will charge you up for sure, lots of red!
Hugs,
Dawn
I'm glad I could attend too! The photographs and your commentary were beautiful. laurie

ReplyDeleteHi Kathy...beautiful pictures...Fall hasn't quite hit here yet...I'm looking forward to the changing leaves and weather a little cooler then 73....I'm considering getting up and turning on the air conditioning...
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteYou asked if you thought we would be settled before the holidays...well hopefully our master bedroom and bath will be done - maybe not decorated. The great room fireplace will be finished. I will still have some painting of guest baths and I have to finish my studio. So, if we have no more guests for a while, I hopefully will get things finished!

may I ask what program you use to get these delightful mosaics? Laurie
ReplyDeleteWow, you put together a gorgeous photo collection! It sounded so refreshing and peaceful too.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying your blog. First time here, and it is so colorful. Love your mosaics ! I have been trying to find a place on there to do this ? There are so many, but they all seem to be on the pc's.
ReplyDeleteI would love to order one of your pillows but I think I am too late. If you have a waiting list, please put me on it -- love them.
