Hey hey, good lookin!

What'cha got cookin?  Our church is participating in the Great American Bake Sale this weekend to raise funds to end childhood hunger. I signed up to make three dozen snickerdoodles and Earl signed up to make 2 small dark chocolate mocha cheesecakes.
Oh the humanity!  I love these things. Even people who don't like coffee have been known to hoover this cheesecake and not share with their spouse or children. In church no less. Just another reminder that we are all sinners...

He also made a pan of his incredible brownies and covered them in more chocolate ganache.  All I can say is it's a very good thing that these are not staying around the house. I have no self control around that much chocolate.  Anyone out there participating in the bake sale where you live?  If you can't bake you can go to the website and enter your zip code to find the sale nearest you! What a fun way to fight childhood hunger!

Not to complain or anything, but my life seems caught beween a whirlwind and the doldrums right now. A whirlwind of busyness and the doldrums of uninspired blogging.  I could take a break, but I really don't want to. Blogging has been my therapy (if I ever needed any, and I guess maybe I did) for the past three years and I miss it terribly! So, just to keep my hand in, I may be trying to take a few minutes each day to play with my camera. Maybe I'll choose a color of the week. Maybe I'll just see what happens. I need to do this.
I think the toughest part has been no time to sew and create. Serious withdrawal going on here. I find myself falling back on obsessing about what color I can paint my walls next, which, considering I haven't had time to leaf through the last three magazines that came in the mail, it seems unlikely I will have time to paint a room. Although I do have next friday off.....I am still trying to get the dining room decorated, but find myself mired in indecision.  Second guessing the whole going back to school thing while at the same time determining that I WILL finish this time.  Sheesh, I read this and think I sound like an indecisive, scattered mess.  Maybe I am, but I am a determined, indecisive scattered mess!  Sigh, back to homework.  The good news is I just realized my online class is only 6 weeks long and I am in week 4. Hallelujia! (My other classes have 6 weeks left.)
I hope you all have a great week. See you soon.

A Little Bit of Random

This is about as exciting as my life is right now. I actually found a few seconds this morning to snap a picture of the morning sun glowing through the leaves of the box elder tree (one of the most heinous trees ever planted), outside our kitchen window.   I do just love the morning sun.
The rest of my time is spent studying and I haven't had a chance to post, to visit, to respond.  I do hope this education thing isn't going to interfere permanently with my blogging!
Fortunately, I had an eye appointment for new glasses this morning so I took the rest of the day off from work. That's right, I'm playing hookey, and I can tell you that because my boss doesn't read my blog. I'm pretty sure. I hope.  Besides they dialated my eyes and I am still stumbling around squinting and trying to avoid light like some kind of vampire. I hate getting my eyes dialated, don't you?  But the point is, I really couldn't work like that anyway so I feel vindicated.
But back to blogging....I am making quick little forays into my google reader. I am visiting, and then I check where it says "mark as unread" so I can go back and comment. Except I now have eleventy hundred posts to go back and comment on and, well, I know I just can't, so forgive me.  Eventually I will get this under control and come back and talk your ears off.
I think my eyes are undialating now and I have oodles of homework to do before class tonight.  See you all soon:>)

Nothing new here. I am swamped in homework and not a moment to spare. But I just had to share this video I saw on facebook. It brought tears to my eyes and is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. What do you think?

Lauren's Quilt

I promised you pictures of the other quilt when I finished it. This is Lauren's. I had a hard time getting it away from her to photograph it. She even took it to work with her. I think she likes it:>)
Lauren chose the candy colors amd I love how they all came together to make this  sweet, bright quilt. I finished it just in time for her first apartment!
Although I think it looks darn good on my dining room table! How about it Lauren? Maybe I could make you a different quilt and keep this one? No?

Web Design For Dummies

My first class in web design last night. Lord help me. Because just because you spend untold hours on the internet doesn't mean you know a darn thing about it.  Fortunately a lovely lady named Sue sat next to me and every time she noticed my slack jawed look of abject confusion and terror she quietly reached over, took command of the mouse and helped me along.  Yes, I do believe in angels.  This ain't like like college in the 70's.  It's fast paced, there are assumptions you know the basics (thought I did, maybe not so much) and the bifocals I now wear make it incredibly difficult to see the power point at the front of the classroom and focus on the screen in front of you at the same time. *sigh*
I'm going to do it though. It's going to take blood, sweat and a whole lot of tears, but I'm going to do it. As the girls youth pastor was fond of saying "C gets you a degree." (Way to encourage excellence Chris!) but it's what I'm holding on to.
Pray for me...

Easter Feaster and a Prize:>)

We had a wonderful Easter! I can't remember the last time it actually felt like spring for Easter Sunday. All the little girls in their fluffy dresses at church were glorying in it:>)

We had a fabulous Easter Feast. The table was groaning with Ham, Honey Baked Turkey, Creamed peas and parslied new potatoes, broccoli salad and sis-in- love's soft home made crescent rolls.
Dessert was furnished by my other sister-in-love Penny who made this gorgeous trifle. A double chocolate trifle topped with fresh raspberries and drizzled with her home made chocolate sauce. Oh. my.
I also wanted to share the amazing table runner I won from Into Vintage who makes the most beautiful things from vintage tablecloths and sells them in her etsy shop. You have to go there and see. I want one of everything.
The table runner I won is perfect for the direction I am going with the kitchen and dining room. The colors are beautiful, and along with the runner she sent a lavender sachet and a tissue holder for my purse.
Thank you Amy! I love my prize and I love your blog!
If you have never been there, go visit. You'll love it:>)
I trust everyone had a wonderful day, Spring is here and I feel happy all the time. Seriously, Spring does that to me. How about you? Are you feeling the joy yet?

Easter Eggs and Homework

Two days ago my post started out with my neighbor mowing the frosty lawn in 27 degree weather in his coat, today the high is supposed to be 81.  Ahhhhh, I love spring:>)   It's a beautiful weekend coming up and a wonderful holiday commemorating Christ's love and sacrafice for us all. Today the youngest comes home from college for the weekend (Yay!) and I am working on homework for my online advertising class. I have homework due Sunday. Easter Sunday.  Am I the only one who thinks that's a bit odd?  So I am busy as a bee trying to get my assignments in ahead of time so I can relax with the family for a couple days. The rest of my classes begin next week and since I have homework due every day in my online class I can tell that posting will be erratic until I get a handle on it.  I just hope my brain hasn't atrophied:>{
I did have time to boil up some eggs for Easter, I think the Aracauna eggs are just perfect without dye don't you?  Beautiful shades of blue and green so I piled them in an old bowl and they will make a wonderful addition to the Easter table.  I have the whole family coming over and I am so looking forward to it.
My drawing for this is tonight so if you haven't entered the give-away do it now! I'll use the random number thingy tonight and announce the winner some time tomorrow.
Enjoy your weekend! I'll see you tomorrow:>)
