You would think that with only the weekends to really clean my house that I would roll up my sleeves and spend a happy afternoon scrubbing. Hah! No. Actually, I felt that Earl and I needed a little day out together. He is going stir crazy and I just wanted to get out so we went to a little town about an hour away called Northville. We scoped out some antique stores and a little place called "Gardenview" downtown. Sooo beautiful! I loved this soft green table. I am just in love with green right now, maybe because I need spring!
This pretty rusty crown with ivy was only $33. I wasn't buying today though, just looking. This bright red wardian case with ivy? LOVE IT! Love the red, love the plant, this would look so cute in the cottage...didn't get it. Oh well. I can look at it here whenever I want:>)

Of course this little green one was adorable too.
Someday I want the kind of garden that needs a statue like this. Isn't she beautiful?
Now we are back home, baking bread and meatloaf (real comfort foods for a rainy day). Our dinner plans fell through so we are making our own dinner and I couldn't be happier. It is pouring rain outside so we plan on grabbing a movie, lighting some candles and snuggling in. What are you doing this weekend?

  1. Sounds like a great day! Love meatloaf.

The store you showed us is neat. You know, I never have the nerve to ask about taking pictures in a store. I need to get over that because we have some neat places around us.

We've been working in the yard all day. I'm pooped!

  3. We've been there, too, and love it. I thought most everything was kinda pricey but then I have that recessive (or maybe it isn't) cheap gene.

I made bread today, too. (I used some of it to make bierock.) This rainy weather makes a good time to use the oven. The house smells yummy.

  4. Hi Kathy,
Hey, you know I had a college roommate from Northville...lost touch with her though. All the garden things look lovely. I would only be looking and not buying too. Your rainy snuggly evening sounds wonderful.

  5. What a gorgeous place! I could be happy with anything I saw in your photos. Thank you for sharing with us. We stayed home today and got a bit of work done. I have done some housework but there's so much more to do. And I made plans and tentative reservations for our summer vacation and college reunion. My sweetheart trimmed some things in the yard and did some outside cleanup after the winter storms - then it started to rain! We've enjoyed a day at home for the first time in many days. Have a good Lord's Day tomorrow. ~Adrienne~

  6. Luckily, we have had beautiful weather the last two days so.... I've planted roses, settled in the new bunny and moved the now month old chicks outside to the bigger brooder.

Glad you and your Sweetie had a good day window shopping.

  7. What a perfect idea -- antique browsing, time together and NO house cleaning...life is short and better to spend the free time you have with the people that matter. Comfort food on a rainy day is perfect!!

Rained here too -- we made a "care package" visit to oldest at University and I made a late dinner when we got back. I'm just heading to a cozy spot to read with some tea!

  8. Keep your eyes open for a vintage wood bird cage and add your own ivy! I love that idea.

We spent the evening having dinner on the grill and eating outside. It was 80 degrees today and tonight about 60. Funny, since a week ago we had 8 inches of snow! We made a fire in our outdoor fireplace. It is almost 10PM. Now we are inside getting ready to turn in. Tomorrow, the weather is suppose to be the same. We will work outside in the garden and grill again.
    Hugs,

  10. Kathleen,

Where do you get your restraint? I just should not be allowed in to these places at all. Or I should live in a huge barn... Ha Ha.

Really wish I had been on this little trip with you...

  11. Good morning, Kathy Grace,
Sounds like your day with hubby was wonderful. The items you showed are just beautiful.
I spent all day with grandkids on Sat. First a basketball game the twins played and LOST...then a softball game Lacey Jean played and WON..then, Mexican food with the family, then shopping for the shower honoring our GREAT granddaughter. TODAY...the shower, then an evening of R.E.S.T., I hope...Our weather here is just beautiful and I so need to work in our pitiful yard..Maybe next week!
    Love, bj

  12. Love your pictures!
This has been a rainy weekend for us. Yesterday was a day of laundry and straigtening up the house. Today, I will (hopefully) be able to sit with a fire and read my new book!
    Happy Sunday!

  15. Gardenview! Sounds like a pretty place! I know you had fun.
    What movie did you rent?
I don't EVER do that but did for once and I got Roman Holiday because so many bloggers talk about it. Well I really enjoyed it and my little boy laughed his head off at that girl on her sleeping med/shot.

  18. Oh wow Kathy I just noticed that you live in MI and the Northville you mentioned is probably the same one that's about forty-five minutes away! Small world, we usually go to 12 Oaks Mall there, and I like the Archiver's but once the weather is nicer we've been planning on going around downtown. I'll have to make sure I stop at the same shop the pics are great and my mom would love it.
