I love spring and summer for the mornings.  I admit I am one of those people who can't imagine why someone would sleep late enough to miss the morning sunshine, it's the best light of the day!  The moment the sun raises it's shining head, I am awake.  There is something so peaceful and hopeful about the morning. The birds are singing and there is time for a cup of hot coffee and some reflection on what the day might bring.
This morning I grabbed an old quilt and threw it over the swing under the pine trees. Grabbed a pillow, my cup of coffee in my favorite handthrown mug, and a new cookbook from a set my dear sis gave me for my birthday.  On the way out I stopped by the snowball bush to enjoy the lush round balls of flowers hanging heavy on it. I love snowball bushes. My grandmother and mother have always had them and now I do too.
A bowl of fresh strawberries from the grocery store (Ours aren't ripe yet), and I was all set for a beautiful morning.  The next thing I know I'm swatting mosquitos like a mad woman and gathering everything up as fast as I can to escape inside.  One of the little devils got me right behind the knee.  Time to spray the yard so we can use it. Lol. Oh well, I can still enjoy all those things safely inside.
Two more weeks of school (work and college) and then a small break. I'm counting the days.

  3. I'm with you, I love early mornings in the warmer weather! That's the time to get out and enjoy the yard, or the porch, or the deck! That's when I fill the bird feeders and refresh the bird bath. I water my plants and enjoy the quiet! Enjoy your day!

  7. It sounded like you were having a morning right out of a good novel...and then, attack! Definitely spray your yard. You have so many wonderful things to do and look at outdoors. I feel the same as you...up and at 'em!!

  14. Bummer-I was moving some rocks last night and the mosquitos were getting me. I live under the apparently mistaken assumption that they aren't as bad in the mornings so I was planning to shift my outside activities to the mornings.

I just want that perfect time to work-not too hot and no bugs. Is that really too much to ask?

BTW-I think that's your prettiest mug, too. I love it.

  18. I love the early mornings when it's quiet except for the birds - but not too early! It looks like a beautiful setting to enjoy the morning except for those pesky mosquitos!

  20. lol I had the same lovely idea one day while visiting my husband's grandparents farm in Indiana. I took an old quilt, a book and some snacks out to sit by the pond in the orchard, and didn't last a minute with all the mosquitos! ::Jill

  21. What a lovely place to have your morning coffee. I'm sorry about the horrid mosquitoes. I'm lucky. They will light on me, but not bite. Who knows why?

  27. Oh, I was all settled into your beautiful scene and imagining I was there with my coffee....and then those pesky buggers! I am well acquainted with them here in FL! Letters written by my grandfather when he moved to FL in the early 1900's spoke of the mosquitoes being so thick you could not see out the windows. Can you imagine? I know you can't wait for your break coming up, Kathy. It will be well deserved!
    XO,
    Lallee
