On a Summers Evening

One of the things I love about summer, the long days make for long lazy evenings. More hours in the day mean more time for kicking back with my sweetie and relaxing outdoors.
Last weekend we decided to take in a concert advertised at a local lavender farm.
We arrived to waves of many different kinds of lavender planted all around the concert area.
The air carried the soft scent everywhere.
There were all kinds of flowers tucked here...
and there....
A cute garden bench...
And an adorable gift shop.
Even a little snack bar loaded with lavender enhanced goodies.
We tried the lavender, lemon and honey ice cream. It was amazing!
The concert was great, just right for a balmy summer evening surrounded by lavender fields.
It was a very small venue and a small concert, very relaxing and the band was great.
They took a short intermission and we found a little love seat  covered with an old quilt, hidden in some greenery where we could listen but still talk quietly. One of the things we still love to do best. Just spending time together on a quiet summer night, with music in the background and night falling.
What's your favorite way to spend a summer night?

  1. That sounds just like something we would love to do. Herb farms are some of my favorite places to visit and the music would be a nice bonus!
    great photos, BTW!

  2. That does sound like a romantic and relaxing way to spend an evening. We have no such thing near here. We live out in the middle of nowhere. Even the closest Walmart is an hour away. For summer fun we have lots of picnics with friends and family. We have two picnics each summer where we meet friends from several hours away half way. We make our own fun and it is always rewarding.

  3. What a great way to spend a summer evening. I enjoy a walk along the beach, or an evening in the back yard with family - grilling food and sitting around the table.

The lavender photos are so pretty.

  6. I love to spend time on the adirondack chairs outside our granary garden. At dusk we watch the bats come out and the owls perched up high on the eaves and ridge poles looking for prey. If one is very quiet, we can spot the owls by their screech.

  11. I would enjoy the same lovely evening spent in a lavender field!
I remember midwestern nights from visiting my husband's family in Indiana - long, still warm, maybe with a hint of rain in the air, and lots of fireflies. So lovely! ::Jill

  12. Your evening sounds enchanting and the ice cream as the perfect accompaniment to the perfect setting. As for me, I love to be outdoors and chatting with neighbors...that is if the mosquitos are biting at my ankles.

Kathy, your pillows are amazing! I am not surprised at how popular they are!

  13. Now, THAT is an absolutely lovely way to spend a summer day! Looks like some place that I would thoroughly enjoy. I had a huge lavender bush at the corner of our house but it succumbed to the extreme heat/drought last year. And I never harvested any of the lavender...drat!
It is usually so hot here in Oklahoma that spending time outdoors in the evening is limited. Watering the flowers/young trees and picking a few weeds is how I spend my time.

  18. What a beautiful post. Your photographs are beautiful. I love the idea of listening to music in such a fragrant and beautiful place. Lavender is one of my favorites, and I visit a Lavender Farm on the Cape from time to time.

    Wishing you a beautiful day.

  19. Hey Kathy - it is so good to finally have a quiet moment to relax and catch up with my dear blog friends and visitors! Your lavender-and-music-filled evening sounds just wonderful - what a treat! Love your photos and your description of the event - made me feel all cozy and comfy and happy! Love the photo of the gift shop - looks like fun, and the ice cream sounds divine! All in all, sounds like a beautiful summer evening! Oh, and how do WE spend our summer evenings...INSIDE, watching movies or reading blogs about sweet summer evenings elsewhere LOL. The Texas-sized mosquitos and 95% humidity take all the fun and romance out of summer evenings around here...so it's extra nice to read about yours!

Thanks for the visit and comment on my studio post - come over any time and play with the vintage jewelry and such!! Oh what fun we would have....someday...someday....but NOT in the summer LOL!!

    Love ya friend!

    Hugs & Blessings,
    Becky
