The end of the affair...

There is no photo with this post. It is too sad. The garden...sob...murdered in its sleep last night.
The zinnias brown, the few tomatoes left on the vine just sad sacks of juice.
I can't even speak about the basil.
It was that villian Autumn. All dressed up to distract me from his real intentions.
Oh sure, he's good looking but he has a heart of pure ice.
I'll string him along for a few more weeks, make him think I care.

But I can see right now we never had a future.

That is sad :(
Makes me think I should go out and bring my basil pots in, plus all my baby Plumeria trees. It is getting chilly here too...

I am trying so hard to be sad for you but your tale has me grinning from ear to ear. Poor, poor garden...(giggle, giggle) oops, sorry there it goes again. SIGH...

Your post title really had me! But you are right. I was giving my flowers a little longer and then one morning they were a soggy limp mess! Oh, well...time to get pumpkins and mums! :)

XO,
Jane

I know how you feel. I went out before work and felt so bad looking at my basils and tomatoes. Luckily we put most of the perennial potted plants in the greenhouse.

I'm hurt over your relationship with Autumn! He is tender and way cool. Look for his striking features and give him a second chance!

It's always heartbreaking when you see what they're really made of! Not just pretty colors and cool weather! Have some chocolate. If that doesn't help nothing will...Mimi

It is sad :-(. We have not had our first frost yet, but my little container garden finished last week. I pulled the last couple of tomatoes off the vine while they were still orange and they ripened inside. Now, if I had a regular garden here, I would have a winter crop growing, like I have in the past. Garlic, chard, etc. Oh well, next year when I am in my new home.

Stay warm!

You know, it's been so warm here I can't even imagine frost, but this morning, my husband opened the door on the way to work and said, "Ooooh, it's cool out here." So I guess it's officially on it's way to us, too.

Sorry you lost your garden, but glad you had a pretty one to enjoy before.

XO,

Sheila

We had our first freeze 2 mornings ago..some of the plants and flowers look pitiful...others are hanging on. None very pretty, tho.
I will get a couple pots of mums for the porch and be done with it.
We both sure are up early or late, whatever the case may be. :))

Oh so sad! It's getting colder and colder here. But really what's cold to someone from the South? When it get's down to 50 we pull out our coats and moan about how cold it is. :)

I find Autumn has so much lovliness in it and yet so much sadness...It seems like such a short window until everything dies :(

Great post!
