Nothing says welcome like a wreath. My front porch flowers in red, white and blue had to go, especially after the heavy frost we had Saturday night. So I pulled out this old clearance sale berry wreath and tucked a few silk leaves in it for extra color. It works for me and it was free:>)
I also picked my 22 lb. pumpkin from the garden. I had another but the deer ate it last night, just one night before I planned to get it! They were/ are Cinderella pumpkins but the frost killed the vines and I don't think it will ever ripen to the pretty orange it should be. I'll start them sooner next spring because I love my pumpkin! Do you see the beautiful crab apples tucked around it? Darling husband found them for me in the woods. The tree just sprang from nowhere but the fruit on it is beautiful. We went back and cut some more branches and I tucked some in the urn on my front porch to add a little color to my dying geraniums.
I love decorating with natural things and I love the color on these crabapples. Perfect red and gold.
I even had enough to fill a vase and, with a few added maple leaves, it adds a nice touch of fall color to a corner of the living room.
I have another busy week ahead of me, but I feel like I accomplished one small thing just for me with this little touch of fall decorating. I hope you all take a moment to do something that makes you smile this week:>)
Lovely, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteThe Cinderella pumpkin is darling - we have seeds for those and we will plant them next year! I love the way the crabapples look with it and in the vase. I like to use natural things as well...
Gorgeous fall decoration!!! The crab apples are fantastic as an addition and your pumpkin is beautiful..even if it isn't orange. So the deer beat you to the one you wanted...just think of it's full belly and what a good deed you did (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating...you wanted the pumpkin and it had no business..but nature does it's own thing!) :)
ReplyDeleteI love your door wreath by the way -- very inviting! Probably even for a deer!! :)
Lovely Fall decorations and I love that pumpkin! Next year I am growing some orange and white ones. I bought a big white pumpkin for my front porch, natural decorations are the best.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look for Cinderella pumpkin seeds next year ... where did you buy your seeds at?
ReplyDeleteYour decorations are wonderful & welcoming.
Have a warm snuggly autumn eve. TTFN ~Marydon
Okay! I'm inspired. I will get a wreath together for my back door tomorrow. I do have one on the front door.

Your home is looking very fallish. LOVE those crabapples. I need to go find me some. Mimi
ReplyDeleteInspiration happens always, whenever I visit your blog. I think it is so clever how you use what you have, add a few extra touches, and beauty happens. Thank you for sharing with us. You could have spent sixty dollars for a new Fall wreath, and it might not have been as pretty as the one you have. It looks so nice on your door.
ReplyDeleteKathy, I love the big green pumpkin! We went to get a big pumpkin the other day and it rang up at $24 so we changed our minds! I wish I had better luck growing them....
ReplyDeleteannie
Hi Kathy, I just happened upon your blog one day and I love reading it! The wreath looks great. Now I am inspired to do some fall decorating!
ReplyDeletetheannadventures.blogspot.com
I don't believe the pumpkin you grew is a Cinderella (Rouge Vif D'Etampes). It looks more like the Fairytale (Musque de Provence). You can look these pumpkins up on many of the seed catalogs on the internet, try Johnnyseeds.com
ReplyDeleteI love the green pumpkin - it's so cool and different!!! :D
ReplyDeleteYour wreath is beautiful Kathy! I kinda like the pumpkin green what ever kind it is! Cinderlla? Fairytale? As long as there is a happy ending!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Dawn
Oh no! I can't belive a deer ate your pumpkin!! I'm glad you were able to get one!
ReplyDeleteYour wreath is beautiful but I love the crabapple branches. Those are so pretty! Love them tucked in the urn!

Wow, what a huge pumpkin! My dh grew pumpkins too this year. He had problems with ground hogs but not deer. Love your pretty door and all the decorations!
ReplyDeleteThose pesky deer. LOL I'm glad you had a pumpkin left to use yourself. The crab apples make a lovely fall display.
ReplyDeleteYou have been a busy girl--so many beautiful things to show for your effort!
Love the wreath, love the fall! Kerrie
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, your fall colors are just so pretty! Just wanted to say that I bought the new "Porch" magazine and was so surprised to see an article about YOU! Congratulations! You certainly deserve it too, I can see that you work very hard at your craft, Kathy! And do an excellent job of it too!

Speaking about beautiful photography, yours are always gorgeous. I think you should write a How To Tutorial for sale on your etsy for HOW TO TAKE GREAT PHOTOS FOR YOUR ETSY SHOP. I think you are incredible about making everything you photograph say 'I WANT THAT"!
ReplyDeleteYour wreath is lovely and so is that vase of berries.
Have a great day.
Karen
How cute, I love Cinderella pumpkins! Everything looks just so festive!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy
ReplyDeleteThe wreath on your door is so beautiful. The bittersweet I have is fake. I don't know if it's protected around here or not, but the fake looks totally real.
Hugs, Rhondi
Love the photos with the crab apples,,,beautiful portrait of the season.
ReplyDeleteI am in LUV with your pretty wreath. Like you, I am not fond of orange...as soon as the berry wreaths go on sale after Christmas, I will buy a big one. Things can be added to it, like you have done, for all the holiday.
ReplyDeleteYou are a smart cookie....and you always...ALWAYS, inspire me!!
I would LOVE to grow a pumpkin..my daughter has a garden every year (actually, it's her hubby, Jent, that does it) so I think, when he is ready to plant next season, I'll take some seeds (did you use just seeds?) and plant a few...I would just have a running fit if I could REALLY grow my very own pumpkin....
Thanks for the email, K. I am having trouble with this silly computer..can receive email but not send it...bummer.
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't received a pkg as yet..maybe Monday ?? I am excited!!

ReplyDeleteHi Kathy....boy I have missed alot..I will now spend days and days catching up with everyone....Love your fall decorating...I tried to get into the spirit of my favorite season today until I saw the price of a pumpkin at $10.00 and quickly put it back....opted for a few apples for some baked apples this weekend...our weather down here is even into the 40's...it too soon for cold weather.....what happened to the 60's.....have a great rest of the weekend.

ReplyDeleteSo sorry you have a cold...they can make you feel so rotten.
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon...
Now I am off to figure out how to be notified in email that you have a new comment...goodness gracious...how can one have a blog for 2 years and be so dumb about how it all works???????
Rest all day long today and have Earl make you a little toddy...:)
What a lovely wreath! And I just planted four crab apples and a oak tree. Next fall I should be able to have some beautiful fall decor from them.
ReplyDeleteWonderful and delightful.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead.
So very pretty...hugs...m.
ReplyDeleteI love that wreath, it looks great with the leaves added. I'm going to have to try growing the Cinderella pumpkins next year, they have such a great shape. I still have 5 out there on my vine, almost all orange. Our weather was in the high 80's today, and it isn't getting too cold at night yet, so I'm holding off for a few more days.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Marcia
Absolutely LOVE your front door!! The wreath just sets it off for fall so well. And the crab apple twigs are genius!
ReplyDeleteHaven't we had the worst weather this year?

Enjoyed my first visit to your cottage Kathy. Come by and visit me at mine sometime!
ReplyDeleteOh Kathy, I LOVE your fall decorations! That wreath looks so beautiful on your red door, and the pumpkin is great! I love that you grew it yourself. I've never tried any type of vegetable because I assumed the deer would get them...
ReplyDeleteAnd I just love it that your husband brought you crabapples.. that is just so sweet! :)
Hey Kathy.....the plate has an indentation in it the size of an egg....too small and misshaped to be for a cup.....I have no idea what it's for...great for a dipping sauce though....did they have chicken fingers with honey mustard dip back in the old days?? I figure someone is going to know what it is...
ReplyDeleteI just bragged about my beautiful apples and pillow....come over and see how pretty they look!!
ReplyDeletexo bj
Ohhow pretty this is Kathy!! Your photos are fantastic too!
