She is here.
Autumn creeps in softly,
like my cat when she wants to invade my lap,
stealing slowly closer, stalking me
until I shout NO!
She stops, motionless, only long enough for my attention to falter
then slides into my lap, soft and warm, and looks at me with gold-green eyes
I can't help but throw my head back and laugh in delight,
for although it is cold when she leaves me
I do love her after all:>)

Check out all the great Autumn decorating ideas at The Inspired Room this week! It is a nonstop fall party that will have you decorating faster than you can say, brrr!

  1. Oh that is such a wonderful metaphor, Kathy! I can just imagine her stalking you... :) and that is exactly how fall arrives, too!

  7. I love this post, Kathy...and, yes, it is "brrr" here early in the mornings and late in the evenings. Not a lot of leaves turning just yet but..it's on the way.

How's the room coming along? I have so many projects lined up, I am beginning to wonder if I can do them all !!

I'm so sorry the deer ate your pumpkins...we haven't had deer in are yard in a couple of years (at least as far as I know).

I know exactly where you go camping! I have been going up to that area for 30 years now.

Hope all is going well and that you are having a great night!

  13. Ahhhh, Fall...if only it were here already. Actually, we got a Texas-style touch of Fall today with lower humidity and lows in the 60s...for us, that's a cool front :o) Love your photo and poem...you're such a clever girl! Oh, and I LOVE those birdie cupcakes - how adorable! Glad you had a great time!

Your daughter Victoria is beautiful...I'm sure you must be so very proud of her...and that you must miss her terribly...I'm sure you will both learn and grow during this season of change...and you'll each be the better for it.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend Kathy!!

    Hugs and Blessings,
    Becky S.

  14. Mornin', sister friend...
I'm glad you enjoy seeing room that I like..I know not everyone has the same tastes but you and I seem to.
I am having a hard time trying to decorate for fall...I am just not into fall colors and I am thinking some goards, maybe stained, on my mantle would pass as FALL. I don't like the faux fall leaves and not crazy about the color orange so....I don't do much decorating for fall...tell me what YOU do, so I can copy you!! :O)

  16. You are a poet and I didn't know it!
I beg her to come myself! She is holding back...being stubborn and rude...I'm biding my time and making plans for her arrival!
