I ♥ My Day Off

I meant to tell you all about the wonderful dinner we had with my niece last night. She flew in from New York, where she is attending culinary school, and baked a gorgeous and delicious Raspberry pistachio tart. I took lots of photos to share only to find this morning that the flash card for my camera was still in the computer from the last time I downloaded photos, so I have nothing to show you. I hate it when I do bone headed things like that. Sheesh.
I have today off and  have decided to spend it doing some fun things I just haven't had time for until now. Making a Valentines banner with some felt and scraps was first on my list and  I was up bright and early at 5:30 a.m. to begin. I didn't mean to be up that early, but I find it nearly impossible to sleep in. So I grabbed a cup of coffee and got to work.
Coffee and crafting are a pretty perfect pairing at 5:30 a.m.  I had so much fun I plan to make a few more today, along with running some errands, catching up with all of you and maybe finding an old movie to watch. It's cold, it's grey, and I haven't had a day of indulgence for far too long.
What's your favorite way to do nothing?

  1. Up at the butt crack of dawn and you are at your sewing machine?? I applaud you!!! But if you are up and can't sleep in then doing something you love is a great way to spend the time. The garland is so cute!

My favourite way to do nothing is to read or create something...whatever mood I'm in, tells me what I'll be doing.

Hope there is a nap in your afternoon!! xo

  2. What a pretty banner! I can't believe you were doing this so early in the morning. I hate getting up early and sleep in when ever I can. Of course, then I stay up late reading!

  3. I do love love love that heart banner. It's always a good thing to work with red on a cold, grey day. I hope you take a picture of the banner after it is hanging so we can see how you attach the hearts etc. This winter my favorite nothing is playing with my Cricut and Gypsy. I'm still learning how to use them but it is fun. Have a wonderful day of indulgence.

  4. Kathy, it is adorable!!!! I'm still blurry eyed at that time of day! Life is so busy - I wish I had more time to sew. Do nothing? Well, guess watching TV is doing nothing. I love Blue Bloods and The Good Wife.

    Have a good day!!

  6. Love the banner. Your day sounds pretty perfect to me. Maybe add a little baking to top it all off and I would feel totally indulged. Enjoy, Patty

  7. Oh, I just love, love, love your hearts - banner, or alone! How amazing that you did all that so early in the morning! I'll admit I get more done if I get up early, but I'm kind of a night owl so like to read late.

  9. The hearts are SO cute, I can see why you enjoy making them. I would, too, but I would need a later start. I seem to be more productive in the late afternoon/early evening.

It's cold and gloomy here, too. I don't watch too much TV but I have plenty to read after I do a little blog catch up! Enjoy your day, Kathy!

    XO,
    Jane

  12. Oh my goodness! When I first saw your new banner, I thought "that is just too darned cute!" before even reading that you made it. I absolutely love it!!! You go girl ;)
Me and early mornings do not go well together. Afternoons and evenings are more my style.
I've done the same as you...left the memory card in the computer. We can be boneheads together! LOL (that dessert sounds SO good)
I love to read books so, if I were to indulge myself, I could while away a day with a good book.

  21. I love your banner. Don't worry, I have done that too. One day it was the most glorious Spring Day in Boston Common. The tulips had just bloomed. So, there I was flashing away, click, click, click. I got home and realized I hadn't put the flash card in the camera. Well, you have the pictures that you took in your mind and you'll remember the lovely visit.

    Have fun.
