One thing I love about blogging. You meet some pretty incredible women. Women with a lot to say and the talent to say it in a way that makes you think.
I had been intrigued by the book "One Thousand Gifts", from the first time I heard about it. This Christmas I saw it at a really great price and decided to treat myself. I am glad I did. Ann Voskamp has an unusual writing style. Her words flow like living water and her thoughts pour out and you realize that you are blessed.
I highly recommend this book. It has some quirky moments, and her voice takes some getting used to, but once you do get used to it, you start to see how living a life of gratitude in every day circumstances changes everything. I will be the first to admit that there have been days that even though I know how small my problems are, I have taken up the mantel of self pity and wrapped myself tightly. I think we are all capable of that aren't we? This book is the cure for self pity. It is,in fact, a call to actively look for the gifts every day. Focusing on the good and being grateful for what we have. Best of all, you can enjoy the gift of Ann's insight daily here.
I recommend this book so highly I'm giving one away. Just leave a comment telling me what you are thankful for today. It doesn't have to be anything big, in fact, it's the little things that make us happiest isn't it?
I'll choose a winner on Feb. 18th.
So tell me, what are you thankful for?

Oooh, without any hesitation I have to say I am grateful for my family the most and especially for my hubby of 50+ years who has stood by me through thick and thin. I cry when I think of us being separated for a "season" but I know we will be together forever. He's my only true love and will be forever.

ReplyDeleteI am thankful for every little thing in my life that we all let go unnoticed. For example, turning on your kitchen faucet and having clean water. Or flipping a switch and having light, being able to share my thoughts to my friends in blogland, having a comfy bed to sleep in at night, sitting by the fire talking to good friends etc.
Hugs,
Penny

So many things to be thankful for...one is that Mr. Sweet and I are financially able to buy our meds that we need for continued good health. I know there's so many that just can't do it. Altho we don't have much money, God has always seen to it that we have enuf for the things we really need. I am blessed.
