Valentine Banners

Goodness, how did we get 13 days into January?! Half gone already, I can hardly believe it. And what have I been up to? Well, I decided to put some banner kits together for the etsy shop. I spent the early afternoon
catching up on Downton Abbey, (Oh how I love that show!) while I cut out hearts and leaves and yo-yos at the dining room table and sipped tea from a cute new mug I picked up at Homegoods.
I'm a sucker for polka dots and roses.
I am just getting ready to list the kits and they will be in the shop in plenty of time to decorate for Valentines day. They are so simple to put together and I am including everything you need.  Some bits of  my vintage feed sack stash make up the smaller colored hearts in some of the kits. I know they will go to good homes:>)
I have decided that I need to make stocking the shop a priority in hopes that I can quit my job and come home. It's where my heart is.  It's time to follow my dreams. I've always been such a chicken about dream following. It usually means taking some risks, and I have never been a risk taker. I like to know exactly what is coming down the pike but that's a bit of an illusion isn't it? We never really know.
In other news, I spent my day off  Friday running errands, working on the kits and then Victoria and I went to see Les Miserable at the movies.  Loved it.  Sure, it has some pretty sad and heavy stuff in it, but the performances were wonderful and the story was beautiful. I highly recommend it. It's a good thing I didn't cry, Victoria needed all my tissues.
Seen any good movies lately?

  1. Ooh, love your new mug! The banners look so cute, too.

You know I haven't seen any movies so I have nothing to contribute to the conversation. (I wish Clarence liked watching movies)

Tell Victoria I was trying to set her up yesterday. If Dawn M. (I volunteered her since she knows them both) ever introduces her to a stranger at church, she'll know he showed up to meet her. ;-) Am I bad?

  2. Cute new mug and I love Downton Abbey, too. Last year I made the big leap and although it was scary I have never regretted it. Can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve cuz the banners look adorable!

  3. It's a grey day here, so your pictures really cheered me. I'm hoping to retire from my full-time job and chase the dream of writing. I will be cheering you on.

I like "Lincoln" a lot and "Argo."

  6. You come up with the cutest banner ideas! It is a huge leap of faith to follow your dreams even when you're not sure of the outcome. With the things I have seen in your shop in the past, I think you're heading in the right direction. I look forward to seeing what's new in your shop and I wish you great success!!

  7. They are very pretty kits and I hope you do well! I want you home to do your dreams!!
I have not seen a movie...I have tried because I bought the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel but I must be missing a gene...after an hour and a half, I bailed out. Same story with Downton Abbey... I can't get the bug or even keep my mind on it.
I do want to see Les Mis for the same reason...all the hype. No guarantees :)

  11. Oh, one more thing. I love Dowton Abbey too. We've been watching it since the first episode. Another one we like which is also on Sunday nights here is Larkrise to Candleford. Totally different but the characters are delightful and the scenery is beautiful. The English really know how to make great TV shows.

  13. By all means follow your dream. It DOES mean taking risks but that's the only way to make your dream come true.

  14. Hi Kathy,
I read a few words of the post and dashed over to your etsy shop to purchase a kit. I love the black and white one. I am just beginning my decorating for Valentine's and it will be perfect.

I know what you mean about following your dreams. It's had to do when you are methodical. I usually follow my dreams with one foot on my safety net.

Everything that you create is beautiful, and the best part is that it is something that you designed.

  16. Stopped back to say...so glad that I jumped at the chance to have one of your kits.

If the rate of you selling out on your goods is any indication that you would be those Etsians who can quit their day job, I think this says it all.

I love your ideas, and admire your ability to design kits. Spoonflower gives you the ability to create cut and sew patterns. Something you might put on your explore list.

    Thanks for the inspiration.
