Summertime

Suddenly, it's summer and the days are hot, the sky is hazy blue and the trees are the color of emeralds. Where did spring go? Suddenly red, White and Blue are the colors we love to show. The Fourth of July is just around the corner with picnics and fireworks.
Time again to not only remember and honor our freedom and those who have fought ond sacraficed for it, but to celebrate it too! This country has some pretty deep problems right now, but it's still the land that I love:>) How will you celebrate the 4th?

  1. Hi Kathy!

Love that sweet little heart with the sparkly flag. So cute!!

Yes, summer sure is in swing. When July 4th comes, I feel like summer is half over. We have been celebrating the 4th up at the lake for the past 19 years. Their is a huge barbeque and live music out at the sand bar (where you can anchor and stand in knee deep water). Frisbees are flying, dogs are paddling along side kids eating hot dogs in the water! FUN! In the evening they have a fireworks display off the island. Everyone goes out on their boats to anchor and watch. All the lights from the boats dotting the water is a spectacle of it's own!

This year I will take pictures to share.

Have a great holiday, Kathy, if I don't visit before!

    xoxo

  2. Such a sweet heart Kathy! We usually have a low key 4th...no family around, so no big picnics, etc. But we do fly the flag, grill out and remember why we love this country.

  3. Hi Kathy,
Oh I love that ticking heart....I also love the 4th of July, yes bring on the red, white and blue. My daughter is so funny, she's 25 and she tries to see as many fireworks displays as she can. I think last year she saw four. We will probably cook out and just watch the fireworks, low key. It is so stinkin hot here. You are right, where did spring go? I am so thankful for AC.

    Hugs,
    LeAnn:)

  4. I LOVE love LoVe the pillow ticking fabric with the red roses and the sparkly~warkly flag! Very country-glam! Love it! I also love your heart photos when you show it in the hands like that with the coordinating apron behind. So sweet! It looks like the heart is being gently cradled and it's makes for such a cute photo!

  5. Your special heart is adorable.
We always go to a parade downtown on the morning of the 4th. Then, everyone comes back to our house for hot dogs and trimmings..and homemade ice cream. Then, after a nice nap, we all go to the park for a fireworks display. A wonderful tradition that our whole family shares in.

  8. Kathy, I love that pretty heart, and I love your sweet and kind heart, too.

We always enjoy the fourth of July at home. We will be hanging the buntings on our front porch this weekend. And, we will grill and have family over.

It is a mixed emotion day for me because my father died on the fourth.

  10. Dear Kathy,

What an adorable heart!!! I love your handwork, so beautiful. One of these days I may be able to help you get your camera ;)

Our church enjoys a picnic dinner and fellowship at the park while waiting for fireworks :) it's a fun time. I am hoping I can make some fluffy cupcakes with sprinkles. I already have the little flag toppers.

    Have a beautiful day!

  13. Hey Kathy!!

Your hearts are inspired - just lovely and unique, each and every one of them!! LOVE this one...perfect for the season!!

I imagine we will be watching fireworks locally...I'm a fireworks fan big time. The flag is out and will stay out...I never tire of seeing it wave! We may just find us a Tea Party to go to...don't want to get all political, but I cherish this country and want to do my part to serve her...

Whatever we do it is gonna be HOT...ick...but it's been so dry, there are fewer mosquitos...you take whatever little blessings you can when you live in the sweltering South :o)

Hope your 4th is blessed with fellowship, family, fireworks, and faith!! (oh, and food!!!)

One more thing - the mosaic table turned our GREAT!!!!! Makes me want to dabble in broken china too!!

    Have a great weekend!

    Hugs & Blessings,
    Becky S.

  14. Hi Kathy
I love the heart and I sure wish I could buy it. We don't have a tradition for the 4th. This year we ae going to be in Jacksonville FL visiting my sister in law so maybe they will be doing something special.

  15. Hi Kathleen!!!
I've been out of the loop for a long time and just wanted to drop in and say HI! I was just in your Etsy shop (I always stop in there when I come by) and just LOVE that vintage linen apron. WOW!

This year, like last year, I'll probably be spending The Fourth with the local fire department. My hubby and daughter volunteer there, so we all kind of hang out together and watch everyone else set off their fireworks. It's a lot of fun and I feel so much like part of the community.
    Stay cool!
    Patricia :o)

  17. We are finally getting some sunny and warm days here in Utah. We'll be having a bbq with the family and friends. A parade in the morning. Big fireworks at the high school and little fireworks in front of our house on the street. I love the 4th. I'm grateful for this country and my freedom. Mimi

  19. I just found your blog. I am in love with that heart! This 4th has a much deeper meaning for me this year since my Son enlisted in the Army 2 months ago. He has been gone for 2 months and will graduate in August. I am so very proud of him. So I am celebrating my Son this year and for all those who are serving and have served. Great post.

  22. Beautiful post Kathy! I love the little heart that you have created. It's so cute! I just purchased 'Ginger' and just know that she will look stunning in my living room. Happy Fourth! We usually have a low keyed 4th. We are able to sit on our front porch and watch the fireworks from the park! It's great to not have to leave home to see a big fire works display!
