Epic. Fail.

HTML final tonight. I blew it. No really, I don't just think I blew it, I blew it. I spent the entire day practicing at home, everything was working fine. I was confident and it was OPEN BOOK! Yeah. Just keepin it real, a genius I am not.

So, I'm working feverishly on the first page of four that we have to build, nothing is working. I can't get a stupid photo to show up. Simple stuff like that. I look up and realize I have been struggling with page one for an hour and a half. I laugh out loud, the desperate laugh of someone who has been racing to the docks only to find out her ship has sailed without her. It's still in sight, but really, it's gone. People are staring.  I have one hour left for the other three pages.
I decide to move on. The next page makes my eyes glaze over, something about tables. I try some stuff. Again, nothing works. The clock ticks loudly (not really, it just seems that way).
I watch as what is left of my mind slowly circles the drain.
With 20 minutes left and 3 pages undone, I finally decide to stop the torture. That's right, I gave  up.
 I. gave. up.
I had an A in that class. Good-bye Deans list.
Photoshop exam tomorrow night. Lets hope that my brain returns before then. Either way, this wretched semester is history. I'm going to bed.  Hopeing for better luck tomorrow.

  8. Oh Kathy...I feel your pain. I do love the "mind circling around the drain" comment. Great visual! But you can only go up from here...right?

  9. I think there is someone in that class who totally gets it and would sit by you at home until you get it too! I can just imagine that screen doing just what you are programming it to do!!! Success! Don't give up...it is going to be rewarding!

  10. Oh, I'm so sorry! I still think you (Earl, too) deserve lots of credit for working on finishing your degrees. I can't imagaine getting back into that groove with the mush I have left for a brain some days.

Put it behind you and enjoy your fun weekend ahead. See you at the non-reunion!

  11. Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again!

  12. Sorry that didn't go as well as you wanted it to. I'm sure you were frustrated. Maybe the final grade isn't worth all that much and you'll still pass. The Dean's List is nice but the goal is to finish the required classes.

I hope your photoshop exam goes better.

    Hugs,

    Manuela

  14. Oh ouch! Tests can be so mind-numbing, and if you add html into the mix, well... what counts, though (to me anyway) is if you can do what you need to do. Sometimes you can't explain how to do it - like in math class when the teacher wanted you to explain WHY you do each step of long division - I never could explain it, but I could do it!

Will you get a makeup test? Good luck on the PhotoShop test! ::Jill
