25 Days of Christmas ~ Bake some Cookies :>)

I think one of my favorite things to do during the Christmas season is baking and decorating cookies. It's one of those things that doesn't call my name that much the rest of the year for some reason, but as a fun thing to do with friends and family it ranks up there among my favorite memories.
I found this cookie stamp at Marshall's while I was out shopping last week and for $3.99 I couldn't resist.  Once I had stamped these sugar cookies I thought it would be fun to use the lines it made to guide my decorating.
I pulled out the decorating sprinkles and went to work. How many of you thought those little silver balls were bad for you to eat when you were little? My mom always told me to pick them off, as if they were actual little ball bearings put on my cookies by someone intent on feeding me something that would break my teeth. Imagine my surprise when I finally got brave enough to eat one and found it was just...sugar.
I love using them now, they add some sparkle and we all know how I feel about that ;>)
Do you make cookies to give away? Anyone hosting or going to a cookie swap this year? What's your favorite kind of Christmas cookie? Do tell!

  1. Ooh, they turned out so cute!

I don't think Mom told me not to eat those silver balls, but I heard it somewhere, too, like as an adult? Maybe you warned me? LOL

I like the pearl decorations, too. So, so cute!

  2. They look lovely, and have inspired me to see if I can find a similar stamp.

  3. I LOVE to bake cookies anytime of the year but at Christmas I like to make Cherry Blossoms. I'm not into decorating cookies ~ they simply are not pretty if I try. And yes, I also like to give them away. This year I'm wanting to make small containers for some that do not get much Christmas otherwise. We have several friends that have no close family anymore. They need sparkle too this Christmas.

  4. Those cookies are very pretty! I love to make cookies all the time and do many kinds for Christmas, but I'm not so good at decorating them. ( I was also told not to eat the silver balls:)

  5. Your cookies look beautiful Kathy. I usually make a roll and cut out cookie that has been in our family for 3 generations. Then I sprinkle them with colored sugar or frost them.

  6. Pretty!
I thought the dragees looked like bb's out of a gun. I used them this week on some cookies I made.
    Yours are so pretty!

  7. Your cookies look wonderful! I love decorated sugar cookies. I have such happy memories of making them with my mother every year when I was a child. Such fun - and fun to eat!

  8. My turn to make cookies for church was this month. We need to make 15 dozen or buy...I would rather bake them myself because since it is just myself and hubs at home now I do not do it often. So I kept a dozen or a little more out of each batch I made and stuck them in the freezer for our own family gathering. It worked out rather well, hoping I might be on next Decembers baking schedule.
