What's new? Thunderstorms this weekend that knocked down some branches, picked the youngest daughter up from college so she could look for summer work, then took her back today, (a 4 hour round trip) garage sales. Some of my finds are below. A pretty old ironstone tureen for $3......
And this cute cottage butter dish, made in England for $5. Much more than I would usually spend on something like this, but I have a small cottage teapot collection going and I couldn't resist this piece to go with it.
And then I found this cool old pitcher, 50 cents! I can see this filled with zinnias from the garden can't you? It says Ohio china company on the bottom, I can't find anything about them when I did a search. It was apparently based out of Monroe, MI (it says that on the bottom too!) Anyone know anything about this?Have you found any cute things at sales lately?

  1. You scored with the pitcher! I've seen something similar in antique stores, but don't really know anything about them. But I'd say it's worth more than 50 cents!

  2. Wow! What wonderful things you found! I sure wish I could find such Treasures when I go out. I have found lately that even the antique stores charge more for used stuff than it would cost for me to buy something new at Home Goods! So off to Home Goods I go! lol

  3. It looks like you had some fun gathering those treasures. :) Love that little cottage butterdish!

  4. I love your treasures, very nice. I don't get out much but I did get an item on E-bay but it cost me and extra $10 because there was another bidder...drat!

  6. Enjoyed reading your blog.
I love teapots and cups and saucers in old dishes. I live in Va.

  7. Sounds like you had a busy weekend...that 4 hour round trip drive for one thing (but time spent with a child? Priceless!!)...and your finds?!? I love the tureen and that little cottage butter dish is adorable. Don't know anything about your other find but you're right -- it will look wonderful with zinnias in it!!

  8. I like each of the pieces you found. That's a pretty successful weekend I'd say.

My college students is job hunting too. We keep telling him times are hard! He doesn't get it.

  9. Hi Kathy!
It's been awhile since I've been over to visit. Looks like you ahve been busy bargain hunting!

  10. Hi, Kathy -
You found some great pieces. Every one is special but I think I like the Ohio pitcher the best. Maybe because it's different than what I usually find.

  11. You always find the best stuff!

  12. Hi Kathy
You got some good deals at garage sales. I haven't been to any sales for a couple of weeks. It's just as well because I have too much stuff anyhow. I need to have a sale myself!
    Hugs, Rhondi

  13. We've had at least one bad storm a week for the month of April! I'm hoping May will settle down and just have normal rain!

I just love the tureen! $3 is such a great price for something so lovely. That butter dish is just the cutest! I would have paid more!

  14. It rained here all weekend so we couldn't get out to yard sale!
After this long cold winter... I am itching to get out looking for some fun treasures!!

    Love the goodies you found.

Kathy thank you for the kind words of encouragement.
    I love you dear friend!

    Blessings, Dolly

  15. Hi Kathy,

Your finds are lovely. There is something so comforting about china. I am addicted to dishes. Have a lovely week.

  16. I love, love, love the 50 cent pitcher!! Can't believe you found such a charming piece for so little:-)

I have a few pieces of ironstone that belonged to my Grandmother so I am always on the look out for others to complement my growing set. Looks like you found a beauty.

Hope all is going well with you, sorry I have not been around as much as I would like... things are taking on a very fast pace around here. Your little chicks are adorable... I'll bet they are already growing fast.

  17. Hi sweetie! You sure found some wonderful pieces. Your pitcher looks like a piece from the 30's or 40's. Did you do a google search? Sometimes the site will have info on old china.

  27. You scored at these sales! What great finds and I love the little 'English' cottage. It's so cute! I'm so jealous ...I haven't been to a sale in a very long time! You've motivated me to get out and take a look!

  28. Kathy, first thank you so much for your kind comments about our little Abigail and the encouragement.

I haven't been sale shopping lately but your finds sure make me want to get out there! I love everything you brought home, and I know I'm going to love whatever you do with your new chairs too.

Do the little chicks have names yet? They are so cute! I wish I could have some running around my yard. We have plenty of bugs they could take care of in Florida.

Thank you for taking the time to say hello :)
