There is a little bit of a path cleared, we (meaning sweet husband) clear a little bit more each year but still haven't gotten very far. The mosquito thing and all...
I found some wild honeysuckle getting ready to bloom....
And a wild apple tree in bloom! I had no idea this was here. It has all grown so dense in the last few years. I am going to admit I don't come back here much. Besides the mosquitoes, I have a terrible allergy to poison ivy. I mean terrible. I buried a pet parakeet in the woods at home when I was 15 and apparently wasn't too savvy about where I planted the little guy. I got poison ivy from head to toe. In my throat and nasal passages. Lets just say it was ugly. Real ugly. My parents weren't big on doctors and I suffered on the couch most of the summer unable to eat much or drink more than a little ginger ale. I lost a fair amount of weight, but I don't recommend the method. Anyway, I am a little leary of the woods ever since. But I'm braving them. For you.
Oooooh Kathy, I love walking in the woods. Can I come an walk with you?
ReplyDeleteI loved the stroll.....soon we will start walking our local trails again and that will make me soooooo happy!
((hugs)) Rosie
Kathy, your property is fabulous! Oh my gosh! I would love to have that much land. The path is so beautiful. It reminds me of Grayling, where I grew up.
ReplyDeleteKathy,
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that your backyard was this wonderful and that it even had a path? What a lovely place to wander(till the dreaded mosquitos and Ivy come out anyway!) Thanks for sharing it. Hugs, Jan@daylilylane
Hi Kathy
ReplyDeleteI am finally getting around to visiting you. I've been busy and haven't had a chance to read your blog for a few days.
Thanks for the lovely walk in the woods. How nice to have that in your backyard! Oh and the violet is so sweet.
Hugs, Rhondi
Kathy, what a beautiful piece of property you live on! And I love your Freckles violet.
ReplyDeleteI felt for you when I heard the story about the poisen ivy! I remember getting it as a child - but not like that!
I would love to go for a walk in the woods with you when ever you head out again!
Hugs,
Penny
Oh to have woods like that! YOu are so lucky!!!!
ReplyDeleteM ^..^
You live in a very lovely area! I'm just over visiting from Brenda's blog...thats a shame about the poison ivy. There's an RX out now..called 'Olux' for poison ivy. It worked really well for me one summer but does not help poison oak. Odd, but! Someone else told me Walmart sells something that you can apply if you do it within 3 hours of coming into contact with it that works well. Here's hoping neither of us gets any poison this summer. Our son has it right now and we share the same bathroom. Would you believe I put plastic baggies over the sink faucet handles and the doorknob & toilet handle and change them a couple times a day. I hate even the thought of getting poison myself..yet its likely with him having it on both arms and hands.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have a walk like that to go one. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteKathy,
ReplyDeleteYour woods are just beautiful!
Annie
Thanks for the stroll in the woods. I'd love to have woods on our property. I love your little freckled violets. I've never seen anything like them before. They are really sweet. ~Adrienne~
ReplyDeleteI loved the walk in the woods with you. I wonder if violets would grown in the woods here. Yours is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy neighbor is severely allergic to poison ivy, too. I haven't ever had it, and I don't want to start now.
How I WISH we had some woods! That path is lovely.
ReplyDeleteAll summer with poison ivy?? How icky sad. My adopted sis has a terrible allergy too. All she has to do is be near it and the red blotches start.
Hope you have a great weekend. Blessings... Polly
Oh so beautiful and romantic, like out of Pride and Prejudice. Lovely.

Wow, Your land is just so pretty !! it is so ugly and dry here that I love looking at all of the pretties back east. Thank you for sharing your little slice of heaven. :) I got poison Ivy once when i lived in Texas, man, it was AWFUL so I totally get it. :) What a pretty violet and what a sweet husband to give it to you. :) Hope you had a great Mothers day !! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, what a beautiful piece of land you have and to have the woods AND a stream! You're very lucky! We have woods nearby, mostly pine trees though, still it's beautiful...I love the little "freckles" pansy, very cute! Have a great weekend!

Thank-you for such a nice walk.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day,
ginger
I'm very impressed with your cleared path! We have a woods behind our house and have never managed to do that. That makes it so much more inviting.
ReplyDeleteKathy, I love your photographs, I guess you were in the same mood I was in this week. As soon as the sun came out, I was gone down the paths nearby. Some areas here have mosquito problems, but where we are it isn't too bad. But I do prefer this cooler weather we have been having. I love your flowers. Karen

ReplyDeleteJust great photos thank you so much for sharing them with us.
That is a wonderful place for a walk, and how fresh and green everything is!!
ReplyDeleteOh on your post of watch dials, I sort of had the same thing happen. Stop by my blog sometime and check out what I did with some of mine. It was a fun project!
Have a great weekend
Michelle
I learned about poison oak in Girl Scouts and I'm not sure I remember at this point. I have never seen poison ivy—only the tame kind. That summer must have been terrible for you! My folks weren't big on doctors, either. They were always opting for home remedies.
ReplyDeleteI love the little freckles plant! What diversity is nature! I wish I had a backwoods path!
