I seldom decorate for fall. I do warm up the house with candles and throws and other cozy things, but I'm not a big fan of Halloween and somehow the autumn season seems so short I just never find the time to really fallify my home. I prefer longer lasting decorating, making and displaying things that can span the seasons but still add a little warmth and fun.
Something about ticking stripes has captured my fancy this year. The simplicity of the stripes has to be one thing I love, and their ability to pair with so many other patterns is another. I grabbed some ticking scraps recently and came up with this little table runner.
Kind of farmhouse, kind of cottage, I think it goes well with my red transfer ware and even with my plain white plates. I love the deep ruffles on each end, and the toile I paired with the two kinds of ticking.
This little beauty is in the shop right now, and I am afraid there won't be any more like it because with my new full time job I am having to focus on some other projects. If you need it, best get over there:>)
How do you warm up the house for fall?
How CUTE!!!!!!!!!!! Now you had to know I'd love this, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteAlso - your new header is awesome. Autumn, perfectly captured in a photo. :)
It's a lovely runner! I love ticking too.
ReplyDeleteI love me some toile and ticking too Kathy! Love this runner....
ReplyDeleteOh Kathy, those colors are dreamy together. I love the ruffles and how you designed this table runner. So now ticking is the ruffle? I am still learning.

Tat is so beautiful Kathy. I love the mix of fabrics and don't get me started on the ruffles. Adorable. I noticed your last commenter, too. :) I love when they do that. Patty

It's a beautiful runner. Perfect for autumn!
ReplyDeleteI love your table runner Kathy! Ticking does scream country and vintage, doesn't it? One of my favorite fabrics. I've got black, tan and red pieces in my fabric stash.
ReplyDeleteThe bottom striped fabric is the same as what I have in my bedroom. I made a bed ruffle and also a shower curtain with it and I LOVE it!!
Oh I'm so tempted....:) This is so cute!!

I went straight to your shop for this cutie....alas...it is too short for my long, ole table.
ReplyDeleteIt surely is adorable...
oops, forgot to tell you your new header is GREAT..love it.
ReplyDeleteLove your table runner, very country looking..I don't do a lot of fall decoration either, I have a few things I set out, but fall comes late and leaves early here on the Texas coast.
ReplyDeleteThe table runner is beautiful. Glad to find others that are not crazy about Halloween either. I tell my husband I will be glad when Halloween is over so we can see something else in blogland and stores. Hope your new job is going good or haven't you started yet?
ReplyDeleteI love this new runner - it's perfect for this season. I'm like you. I don't really decorate much for Fall and I don't do Halloween but I add all kinds of candles and throws and cozy things for the Fall and Winter days ahead.
ReplyDeleteWe're having a little bloggy get-together today. Wish you were here to join us.

ReplyDeleteYou are a talented seamstress. You always put together such nice combination of fabrics!
I have red transfer dishes too. Not as pretty as yours though. Is your set antique? It sure looks like it. I think your runner would look great anytime of the year, but at Christmas especially.
I hope all is going well with your new job. I know how hectic it can be in the beginning, getting familiar with everything it entails
Blessings-Kimberly

Lovely pictures! Nice job on that table runner. I've been thinking about maybe making one because our table needs a bit of covering up in the middle!
ReplyDeleteI love this runner. I too tend to prefer to decorate for the long term. I do love the lovely warm colors of fall.
ReplyDeleteI love the pairing of ticking & toile. They go together so well. I saw some chocolate brown transfer ware that I fell in love with!!
ReplyDeleteYou do beautiful work!
Just beautiful, as always Kathy. You have a gifted eye for decor and pairings. I love the striped ticking and the toile kicks it up a notch. I don't really decorate for fall but seeing what you've done with this table runner has given me some ideas!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! My favorite patterns all bundeled together!
