"Suddenly, through birthing a daughter, a woman finds herself face to face not only with an infant, a little girl, a woman-to-be, but also with her own unresolved conflicts from the past and her hopes and dreams for the future.... As though experiencing an earthquake, mothers of daughters may find their lives shifted, their deep feelings unearthed..." ~E. Debold
How very true....

  1. Someday you will look back on this time and understand it all much better. Contniue to seek His face and he will bring peace to your heart.

  4. What an amazing quote. I just looked at my verysoontobe 21 year old son today and thought "he's really a man"...it shifts everything as we accept our children as adults...some days it's easy, some days it isn't. The mother/son relationship is different from the mother/daughter in so many ways.

A friend of mine had a baby girl today :)

  7. We are definitely experiencing the earthquake here, both in emotions and in the amount of discarded clothes on the floor of her room! LOL

But yes, having a daughter is so much more of an emotional earthquake. :)

  8. It is a complicated relationship we share with our grown children to be sure! It seems to be one of blessing and pain. Erma Bombeck's question, "Where does a mother go to resign?" is something I have asked myself more than once! Wishing you many blessings.

  9. The earth is really quaking in Virginia these days....I've been through it once and that daughter is now my best friend.....so I'm hoping my 15 year old will turn the corner too...until then I wear my armor.

  10. I don't have a daughter....four sons for me.

But I remember being a daughter to my mother. She is gone now. I remember calling her one day when I had children of my own and FIRST, apologizing to her for my crazy antics as a child and teen. And SECOND, thanking her for being there for me, even when I didn't think I wanted her to be.
    Hugs,
