Well, I went and did something I said I would never do. I just disappeared with no explanation. Sorry about that. It's been almost 2 years since I posted here. There are a few reasons for my absence. First, I moved to Instagram, posting a quick photo and short post appealed to the lazy side of my nature. I found a lot of my old blogging friends there and this little blog seemed somehow redundant and so much more trouble.
I think I also lost interest in blogging. It has changed so very much since that first day in 2007 when I sat down to write my first post. Remember when we gave away tea cups and aprons and just sweet little items that weren't expensive? Well, with the advent of the "influencer" things got more material. Big money, huge prizes and sponsored give aways just made those first sweet day brightening packages seem so inconsequential. Things started to seem more material and competitive. I admit, it eventually took some of the fun out of it.
At any rate, Thank you for all the years of sharing our lives and if anyone sees this 2 years later, just know I still think of many of you, you are friends. If you ever want to say hello, I'm over on Instagram under the same name. Kathyscottage. Thanks for all the years of aprons, decorating, and tea cup sharing. Barbara, I still use your crab apple jelly recipe, Penny, I still look in on you and I'm glad we haven't lost touch. BJ, Adrienne, Stacey, Patty, Becky, Julie and so many others, I'll see you over on IG.
Sending love and gratitude your way for all the years and all the joy we shared here at Kathy's Cottage.

I'm glad that we've stayed in touch on IG! I miss those sweet days of blogging and am trying to keep it going.
ReplyDeleteAnd, my friend, I still make your chicken noodle soup, Is it time to write it down? Is this blog going *poof*?
ReplyDeleteI left Instagram when they started nailing political things, with which I did not agree, to the top of their page. I hated it so I left. Who knows though, I may pop in from time to time just to see what you're up to.
Take care, be blessed...
I was just thinking about you the other day and hoping you were doing well, along with your family. I'm not on Instagram - it was too distracting, although I loved it. Take care, my friend....I will miss your beautiful blogs posts. sending my love....
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Instagram, I have not joined that, I am already very active in social media and there are only so many hours in the day. That was nice of you to pop back in to your blog page.
ReplyDeleteI miss those days of blogging, too. I've not been blogging for quite awhile. I'm so glad you're on Instagram so we can stay in touch. I'm stilling looking forward to the day we can sit down together and share a cup of tea and a l-o-n-g chat. Maybe here -or maybe by the River of Life when we get to Heaven!

Let's not lose touch! I think I have about a year of blogging left in me....then who knows. I rarely check instagram, but I will start! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteThose early days of blogging were special. I miss them. We were like a group of girlfriends all sharing our love of our homes and hobbies. I’ll always remember those sweet hearts you made and wanted so much to buy one of your “house” pillows but was on a tight budget. I’ve occasionally thought of going back to blogging but IG is so much easier. Glad we can still connect there! ❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way Kathy. Unfortunately, influencers have even diminished the joy I received in reading blogs. So happy we can still keep in touch on instagram as it's always a delight to see your lovely garden, family and projects.
ReplyDeleteI still blog the way I used to and still building the relationships. No influencing, just life. I haven't added instagram to my life yet. Maybe one day... too much social keeps me from getting out and being social~!
ReplyDeleteI still have several things pinned from your blog as 'future projects' for me. I'm just a blog reader. I tried doing a blog 10 years ago, but quit after 2 posts - it's so much work! But it did give me great appreciation for what you lovely bloggers have done over the years. I'm not fond of the 'influencer' blogs, but I do understand. I'm on IG occasionally, so I'll be looking you up and following you. Take care and thanks for the memories!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy! I so understand and just recently I've retired my blog too. Like you, blogland has changed so much it's not personal like it used to be. I will always cherish my mixer decals from you!
ReplyDeleteBlessings always,
Shelia :)
Hey friend, every time I use the gorgeous apron you made me years ago, I miss you so much ❣️
