I've always loved hollyhocks, their tall spires of cupped blooms that reach to the sky add so much to any cottage garden. A while ago, sweet husband and I were perusing an estate sale when I spotted these dishes on one of the tables. I fell in love with these immediately but the price was too high to justify buying them. I walked away wishing ...
Sweet husband went back and bought them for me:>)
Aren't these just the cutest, cottagey dishes ever?
Royal Staffordshire "Hollyhocks". Four cups and saucers, four dessert plates and a pretty little 10" cake tray.
I adore sweet husband:>)
I would fill that cake tray and make him a cake. Those are the sweetest dishes I have ever seen. Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteThe little things that husbands do...it's hard to believe we can love them more! Your dishes are lovely. I really like hollyhocks, too and wish I had some success growing them.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Kathy!
XO,
Jane

ReplyDeleteHave you ever grown hollyhocks? I am a hollyhock slayer - somehow mine never grow and yet I see them all over town. One day I'll figure out what I'm doing wrong.

ReplyDeleteSooooo adorable. And your dishes are cute too ;) Mimi
ReplyDeleteThey are over the top cute!!!! I've never ever seen those! Hollyhocks!!!
ReplyDeleteYou lucky!!!
I met the lady in question thru her daughter's blog. Mimi Charmante aka Kimberly Taylor. We (Barb) and I have chatted for a few months and she is just such a servant ...a true Mother Teresa and I'm blown away by her lack of self...unreal what she does after work each day all for those orphans she happened upon while in Uganda. She couldn't rest...and came back and began baking banana bread to sell. She lives in Canada and recently *finally* a news station picked up on her story and donations came which were the first besides maybe my small one and a few others. You saw the cow that was sold :) I'll bet I'm out of characters for this comment...
Everyone has their pet charity or whatever but just watching her I felt she needed a teammate and I'm sticking by her on this...and isn't Jowann so cute!!! She has siblings. All are HIV positive (but Jowann does not know it). You can write a child without having to send a donation by the way! Just a letter and a photo will be a huge huge gift!!!
ReplyDeleteThe hollyhock teaset is sooooo cute!!! LOVE those! Your hubby is a keeper, that is for sure!
ReplyDeleteI love hollyhocks too, and I have never seen sweet dishes like these! What a loving gesture for your husband to go back and get them for you; touched my heart!
