I am, quite possibly, insane...

Yes insane! It all began when Earl brought home a box of precut, 5" fabric squares from his mother. She didn't want them, could I use them? Well, hmmm. I had been thinking of making quilts for the daughters (quilting being something I swore I would never do!) and here were the pieces all cut out! Woo hoo! Except they were not the right colors. Well maybe I could use a few of them and just fill in with colors that I love. Right? how hard could that be?
Of course Victoria had seen a pinwheel quilt in the header of this blogger, (oh why do I let them look over my shoulder when I'm blogging!?) and requested it. It is gorgeous. I could do one for each of them (and maybe one for me?) And then I calculated how many squares I need to cut out... about 500? Insane. Best not to think about the number. Just do it. Wish me luck. Anyone know where I can get an all white charm pack?

  1. Have fun! That's a LOT of cutting and stuff!

  2. I think you're just the right person to do this...I bet the quilts will turn out perfect!

  3. Insane, absolutely not! Have fun with all these beautiful fabrics. Can hardly wait to see what you create.

  4. Kathy,
I don't think that you are insane at all. I have been painting up a storm to get all those miniatures done. I think it is wonderful when we challenge ourselves. It's amazing how happy we get when we begin to create. I love the material, and I love that pin cushion too.

    Happy Quilting.

  5. Just cut up a white cotton sheet...there you are, easy!

  6. O, Kathy don't even come CLOSE to being insane. As well as you sew, these are going to be the prettiest quilts ever. I can not WAIT to see them!!
Ebay is a great source for quilt charms, too.
    hugs, bj

  7. How great! They will surely become heirlooms passed down to your future grandchildren and more! Can't wait to see them....

  8. Insane? You? NEVER!! You are such a good woman a good mom, a loving heart... a quilt? for someone you love? Not insane at all! And hey, I LOVE seeing that pincushion being put to good use!!! I knew if anyone was going to use it and love it, it would be you!!! :)

  10. You need to come see my blog...your free gift is waiting...(sorry, I couldn't resist using that line.)

And no, you aren't insane. In fact, maybe you'll love quilting so much you'll make your dear, kind, sweet, lil' sis a cushion-say, oh, about 9 feet long? ;-)

  11. I just took a look at the pinwheel quilt. I can see why Vicky wants it-it is really cute!

It would make a cheery pew pad. Subtle, aren't I? ;-D

  12. What a special gift for your Daughters, and you. Can't wait to see how they turn out.

  13. You are one special talented woman!!!! You are not insane. You are a beautiful person. Happy 4th. ....hugs...m..
