I am NOT in the Phillipines

Sheesh!  How stinking annoying is it to wake up and find your email has been hacked? Honestly can people who do that get a life?  I hope none of you actually sent funds. I have not been mugged and I am sitting here in my living room with a hot cup of coffee just trying to figure out what to do next.  Do I have to get a new email address? Really?  Anyone got advice on what to do next?

  1. This happened to me last year but I was supposed to be in Spain. You have to go into Yahoo where it asks you questions. It will say something like.....did someone hack your account. It leads you right where to go. You end up changing your password only on your yahoo account and that's all you have to do. I think, if I remember right that I did loose my contact information. Not nearly as serious as I thought it would be. You will get tons of emails from friendsasking you about it. Good luck.

  2. I had this happen on a g-mail account. I also just changed my password (and e-mailed all my friends letting them know I was not selling Viagra) and that fixed it! Good luck.

  3. Yes, change your password to something complicated with numbers and letters. That did the trick!

  5. Pick a password with numbers and symbols, that makes it harder for the bad people.

  6. I got that email too but I knew it wasn't from you. NO those people do not have a life. I just had my credit card hacked so there are lots of crazy people out there. Thankfully the folks that I call friends are nothing like that.

  8. How frustrating! What reason in the world does someone need to do something like that?

  9. I got the email and - believe me! - if you were stranded anywhere in the world I would help! Just call! Change your password. You might want to print or copy your contact list first. My computer crashed over a week ago and I lost my contact list! One thing that does for you - it cleans up your list REAL fast!

  10. Hi, darlin' hacked one....
I got the Phillipines letter, too.
Of course, I knew in a flash it was a hacked affair.
I can't figure out what fun they get out of hacking into our little blogs and address books.
Like others have said, i think if you add numbers to your password, it might help.

  12. I am so sorry, Kathy! Its sad that people don't have anything better to do than to wreak havoc on someone's day.
I've never been hacked (knock on wood) but I sure do receive a lot of blog spam...re: Viagra and other creepy stuff).
Hang in there and don't let the turkeys down.
    Smiles and friendship,
    Carolynn

  13. I fail to see what pleasure anyone can get out of doing this. It happened to me and I just had to change my password (to something complicated).

  14. I got one of these from Jan Patek last year. While I like her work, I've never met her, so I figured it was a hack job. Seriously though...huh?

  15. I got that email from you but I had heard of this scam before. I think changing your password would be enough. It's always something! :)

  16. Soooo sorry this happened to you too. Kind of embarrassing! My hacker said that you could lose weight by buying his raspberry drops! Now all my friends think I think they're fat. :( It's always something...Mimi
