I just had to share this...it is 27 degrees out this morning and the neighbor next door is mowing the lawn. In a winter jacket. Because mowing the grass when it is held upright by frost gives a nice crisp cut?  I guess that just goes to show how desperate we all are for spring, lol.
I got the quilts I made for my girls for Christmas back from the quilters this last week. I was so excited when I opened the box!  This week I am working on binding them, finishing a dress for my oldest to wear for Easter, and getting the house ready for hosting Easter dinner. We always have so much fun on holidays, getting together:>)
This isn't the binding I ended up using, I'll show you when they are both finished. I think I'm hooked on quilting now.  Now it's off to work for me.  Don't forget to leave a comment for my give-away. The drawing will be held April 2 so you still have time!

  1. I guess we all are ready for Spring, but even that's pushing it! Besides I think it would do more damage to the grass cutting it frozen, lol. I can't wait to see the finished quilts, how exciting! Have a great day!

  4. Good Morning Kathy.
I simply adore your pinwheel quilt! Your colors are precious and the binding is so cute! Not to mention the fabric that you used for your backing!! You are inspiring me to get my sewing machine out and leave my outdoor chores to wait. :o)
I laughed at your neighbor mowing the lawn. Green grass is finally making it's grand entrance into spring around here! I will be mowing on a regular basis. :o) Pollen also has graced us with yellow cars and plenty of sneezes. :o)
I hope your day is a warm and pleasant one!
    Sincerely ~ Trish

  5. We are supposed to get up into the 60's this week here in the upper Midwest. I am so excited, but all I plan to do is rake and clean up a bit. Cutting his grass???! My, oh my!! That is desperate!

Your quilts are beautiful. When you were making them, I thought you were an old pro! I'm glad you enjoyed the process because I think you should keep doing it!

Have a wonderful week, Kathy! :-)

  7. OMGosh! That is so funny what you are saying about the neighbor! I wonder if the frost is going to rust the blades when it thaws later in the day, LOL! Oh, well.
Your quilts look nice and cozy!
Well, I just wanted to come and invite you over to my blogoversary party! It's my 2nd blogoversary and I'm having a giveaway! Do come over if you'd like. You are most certainly invited!

  8. Hi Kathy
I love the colors you chose for your quilt. Making quilts is so much fun isn't it? The only part of it I don't like is doing the quilting, but I can't afford to send them out. You are lucky to have someone quilt them for you. It is so much easier!
Hope you're having a good day today.
    Hugs, Rhondi

  10. Wait a minute.... that's my quilt right? And that's the binding we discussed... but it's not the binding you used? Now I'm more than a little curious about what happened there. and oh geez. him and his lawn mower. why doesn't he just marry his lawn tools already?

  13. Uh oh, looks like one of the girls caught you. I'm sure what ever you used looks great but i did like the polka dots.

Maybe it was your neighbor's last chance to mow before the Easter Bunny comes?

  18. Oh, Kathy...that quilt is lovely! I've wanted to make a pinwheel for ever just not gotten around to it! I love yours and all the colors in it. I love the cherry fabric, I bought an identical piece earlier this spring, the cherries are so petite without looking comical, if that makes sense! LOVE your work and the quilting pattern!

  19. OMGosh...these are wonderful. I love your pattern, your colors...and the quilting is awesome. I love making the tops but hate the quilting. Now you have me in the mood to make a brightly colored one like this.

  22. That's kind of crazy! It's in the 80's this week. Finally! It hasn't been this warm since last October. Everyone is outside - which is so nice to see!

The quilt is so cute! I can see how quilting my get addicting. I think I'd like the picking out fabric combinations and patterns. I'm not sure about the actually sewing though LOL!

  24. That's such a great part of quilting - seeing it quilted! After I got my first quilt back I was hooked too. Luckily, my quilter is local so I only have to wait a few days for her to finish.
